Jazz It Up At Detroit International Jazz Festival

People love music, engagement and bus rental Detroit festivals and if you are one of those few who enjoys such gatherings, then you are going to absolutely fall in love with Detroit International Jazz Festival. For one, it is also popularly known as Detroit Jazz Festival, one of the largest festivals of its kind in the world. This fun tourist magnet used to be known as the Montreux-Detroit Jazz Festival until it became much more localized in 2000. Back in 2005 and 2006, the organizers, once again, changed its name because of the active involvement and sponsorship by large motor company, Ford Motor Company. Ever since then, Mack Avenue Records took over the whole organization and the name is known known singularly as Detroit International Jazz Festival.
Despite the frequent name change, the fun activities and events are pretty much very jazzed up. The funny thing is that you do not need to be a fan of jazz music to get into the groove. Just bring your enthusiasm and dancing shoes along and you will soon find yourself deeply embracing and joining up all the activities, food, drinks and performances.
This year, 2013, the directors stayed true to the main motive of the event, which is to bring together artists and performers who are truly passionate about jazz in ALL forms. You will be surprised with the sheer number of different ways to get perform jazz and it was nothing short of mind-blowing. So, you get to make new friends, do something different while learning about the multiple ways creative people express themselves in the form of jazz. It is truly an amazing bus rental Detroit event for everyone, despite knowing very little about jazz and the musicians.
In fact, the people at the event will often tell you about this ‘language of jazz’ and about how all the different types of jazz have an amazing way of touching your life and turning things around for the better.
At the festival, you celebrate the journey jazz has experienced along the way, reveling and celebrating the history and spirit of jazz. It has created and pushed against traditional boundaries.
This year, some of the most popular jazz names made an appearance at Lake St. Clair and they are none other than jazz powerhouses Ursula Walker, Jeannine Course-Miller and Barbara Ware. And of course, we can’t leave out speaking about the appearance of Johnny Trudell who showed us what true trumpet-playing was all about.
If you are heading over in a group, please give Bus Rental Detroit a call so that we can be a part of that experience too.

Cafe D’Mongo

Have you ever been to a speakeasy before? Or rather, do you know what it is? Well, if you have not heard of it before, a speakeasy is a place or outlet that sells alcoholic drinks illegally and it was popular during the Prohibition era, that is, between 1920 right up to 1933, but in some states, it is longer than that – then it disappeared after the Prohibition era ended. Now the term “speakeasy” is used to describe retro style bars or pubs. And if you have never been to one, perhaps you may want to rent a Detroit bus and bring your friends with you to Cafe D’Mongo that is located at 1439 Griswold St, Detroit for a night of experiencing what it is like to have drinks and fun in a speakeasy.

In case you didn’t know, Cafe D’Mongo is only open on Friday and Saturday nights. Once you and your friends get down from the Detroit rental bus and enter into Cafe D’Mongo, you would most likely receive a warm welcome by the owner of the place itself, Larry D’Mongo. Not only that, the hostess and bartender are very friendly too and they also make guests to the bar feel very welcome and at ease, especially for first time visitors. The ambience and atmosphere inside Cafe D’Mongo is filled with live music playing all night through. The decoration inside is rather interesting, compared to modern pubs or bars. There are instruments on the walls, a Billy Holiday picture and newspaper cuttings that tells of the heydays of speakeasy. If you are lucky, you may even be able to watch and listen as the singer cum pianist play and sing a couple of song – he’s a really talented pianist and singer, we must say!

Right in front of Cafe D’Mongo’s, where your Detroit rental bus driver would have dropped you and your party friends, they have their food cooking in grills, which is definitely something you don’t get to see ever so often, so if you and your friends enjoy bbq, all of you would surely love this place very much! You will also find most of the crowd leaning towards the hipsters, but then again, you will also see different types of people, so it is not really too overwhelmed with hipsters too – not that it is such a bad thing. In fact, this is one of those places where people watching get to be very interesting. Drinks are considerably good too, and it would appear that one of their best ones are Detroit Brown. You will have to try one to decide if you like it.

Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit

If you are visiting the city of Detroit and you enjoy visiting old, historic buildings, then you should make time in your schedule to drop by and visit one of the old churches in Detroit. And since you are already there in the rented Detroit bus, perhaps it would also be a good idea if you join in their church service too.

Said to be one of the most beautiful churches in Detroit, Historic Trinity Lutheran Church is a must see for anyone visiting the city of Detroit for the first time. Some people even equate the beauty of the old churches in Detroit to those that are found in Europe, so you really don’t want to miss the opportunity to visit at least one, if not all the historic churches in Detroit. You will have to find for yourself if this is true – so make that booking to rent a Detroit bus and see for yourself how beautiful the Historic Trinity Lutheran Church is; and if you have time, you can also visit some of the other historic buildings in Detroit too.

In December, the Historic Trinity Lutheran Church is magnificently decorated with trees and crèches and it is a time when many people would make their way there to remember the celebration of the birth of the Savior of the world. When you arrive in your rented Detroit bus, you may look at the building and think that it is just another old church building, but wait till you get inside the church building itself. You will be completely “blown away” by the intricate designs within the church. As you walk through the church and admire the variety of nativities from all over the world, don’t forget to also visit their basement for the doll houses.

The Historic Trinity Lutheran Church is more than 150 years old and the building still stand strong and majestic. Throughout the years, this church has received many visitors with many school children taking field trips during memorial events like Advent, Lent and confirmation. Also, due to its central location (it is located within close distance of Ford Field and the Eastern Market), it is a place where many local Lutherans and visitors would attend its worship services and their events. Currently, other than their weekly Sunday worship services – they have three services on Sundays, at 8:15, 9:30 and 11 in the morning, they also have evening services on Mondays at 6:30pm right through until August 27th.

Downtown Detroit

Detroit’s influence on the world is always underestimated, due to the decades of population flight and urban decay that have struck the once mighty mighty metropolis. If you’re visiting Detroit, rent a charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coach or school bus from Bus Rental Detroit, and find out for yourself what Motor City has to offer. Detroit is large, and spread out over several neighborhoods, so a rental bus is a good way of moving around to see the city, especially if you are in a group.
The name Detroit will always be synonymous with that machine that Americans have a great love affair with, the car. If you’re interested in the latest developments in vehicle technology, and the unveiling of next year’s models, get a rental bus and head over to the North American International Motor Show. Running from January 14 to January 27, 2013, NAIAS is one of the largest auto shows in North America. Both production vehicles as well as show cars are unveiled at NAIAS, with manufacturers using crowd reactions to gauge market acceptance of new designs. Manufacturers also use NAIAS to showcase new technology, like electric powered vehicles and hybrids. This year’s show will see the introduction of the C7 Corvette from GM, the Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible, the replacement for the Acura NSX and the Mini John Cooper Works Paceman, among others.
The Renaissance Center is a symbol of Detroit’s industrial might, the tallest building in downtown Detroit. More correctly a group of seven interconnected skyscrapers, the entire complex is owned by GM as part of its corporate headquarters. The tallest tower in the complex is the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, billed as the tallest all hotel tower in the Western Hemisphere. A good place to visit in your rental bus, take the glass elevator up to Coach Insignia, the world’s largest rooftop restaurant. You can take a free tour of the Renaissance Center, which are held thrice daily, Monday through Saturday. View the GM Wintergarden, a tropical atrium overlooking the Detroit River, GMNext, a showcase of GM’s classic and concept cars, and visit the Riverfront Plaza and Promenade.
Visitors to the city might be surprised to learn that Detroit is the largest American city to house casino resorts. Take your rental bus and visit one of the four main resort casinos. These are the MGM Grand Detroit, the MotorCity Casino, the Greektown Casino and the Caesar’s Windsor. The MGM Grand Detroit is the largest and was the first of the resort casinos to open to the public outside of Las Vegas and Atlantic City. This casino resort boasts of luxury suites, a spa, several signature restaurants and over 90 gaming tables and 4,000 slot machines.
If you’re visiting Detroit, especially as part of a group, take a rental bus from Bus Rental Detroit to see Motor City. Forget about Detroit’s past reputation. City efforts to revitalize downtown Detroit are bearing fruit, and taking a rental bus is a fine way to see Detroit’s downtown and have a great time.

Welcome to Motor City

Welcome to Detroit, the traditional and symbolic home of the world’s automotive industry. In fact, "Detroit" is a metonymy for the American automobile industry as well as being an important source of popular music legacies celebrated by the city's two familiar nicknames, the Motor City and Motown. There are simply too many different things that can capture tourists who come here in a party bus, tour bus, bus charter, mini bus or van transportation but here, we will outline some for you.
For those of you planning to make a journey to Detroit by rented charter bus, you can thank Henry Ford and Detroit for making the modern automobile the de rigueur choice. To experience the fruits of their labor, all you have to do is book your comfortable, luxurious yet comfortable bus from Bus Rental Detroit and you’re on your way.
Seeing all of Detroit and southeastern Michigan's automotive attractions could take over a lifetime to see even when you are enjoying the chauffeured bus charter ride. So we’ve selected some of the best sites that are definitely worth catching.
The Henry Ford Museum (formally known as the Edison Institute) is a large indoor and outdoor historical museum complex located in the Metro Detroit suburb of Dearborn, Michigan, USA. Designated as a National Historic Landmark this museum houses a vast array of famous homes, machinery, exhibits, and Americana as well as many rare exhibits including John F. Kennedy's presidential limousine, Abraham Lincoln's chair from Ford's Theatre, Thomas Edison's laboratory, the Wright Brothers' bicycle shop, and the Rosa Parks bus.
Come delve into the collection that started out as Henry Ford's personal collection of historic objects, dating back to 1906 and today it features a collection of antique machinery, pop culture items, automobiles, locomotives, aircraft, and other items in a 12-acre (49,000 m²) site.
Some of these items include, a model of the nuclear-powered Ford Nucleon automobile; an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile; The 1961 Lincoln Continental, SS-100-X, that President John F. Kennedy was riding in when he was assassinated; The rocking chair from Ford's Theatre in which President Abraham Lincoln was sitting when he was shot; George Washington's camp bed; an 1896 ten-person safety bicycle; several fine 17th and 18th century violins including a Stradivarius; Thomas Edison's alleged last breath in a sealed tube; Buckminster Fuller's prototype Dymaxion house; the bus on which Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, leading to the Montgomery Bus Boycott;Igor Sikorsky's prototype
helicopter; the Fokker Trimotor airplane that flew the first flight over the North Pole; Bill Elliott's record-breaking 1987 212mph Talledega race car and the Newcomen type engine from Cobb's Engine House in England. Such an insightful tour bus visit, we assure you.
Plus, the museum features an IMAX Theater, which shows scientific, natural, or historical documentaries; as well as major feature films. But don’t just take out word for. Book your bus charter, rented party bus or a small but convenient mini bus from Bus Rental Detroit and enjoy the ride on Detroit’s finest, to see Detroit’s finest.

What to see in Detroit City

Rolling in to Detroit City by bus rental and wonder what there is to see and do in the Motor City? With Bus Rental Detroit you’ll get a chance to see the hidden secrets of the city and you’ll take home as many fond memories as you do good pictures.
Take the party bus, shuttle bus or mini bus to Detroit’s Easter Market is always teeming with people buying fresh produce like apples, blueberries, and even roses from farmers who have made the long trip here from the Midwest. Locals like to buy a week’s worth food at a go and it’s become very much like a town square, where people from all backgrounds gather regularly. We recommend paying a visit to R. Hirt Jr. & Co., in the rented bus charter for fresh-cut meat and gourmet cheese or drop by the Russell Street Deli for a breakfast of omelets and pancakes.
In case you forgot, Detroit is famous for one other thing besides cars - it’s got a music legacy few towns can match. In addition to being the hometown of Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and Madonna, the Motown Historical Museum, near Detroit's downtown, is where Berry Gordy Jr. built Motown's powerful roster, which at its peak included Diana Ross and the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and the Jackson 5. One must visit spot here is Studio A, Motown's first recording studio and it is best to do it in a reliable party bus.
For a different view of Detroit in with a bus charter rental package, visit Palmer Woods. This leafy neighborhood in the city's northwest corner is home to the district's 300 or so historical homes (mostly neo-Georgian and Tudor Revival) built in the early 1900s at the behest of auto-industry barons. Famous Americana architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed a massive 4,000 sq. ft. home in the neighborhood in 1955 that is today undergoing a million dollar renovation.
Talking about architecture, the Fisher Building is another must see spot. Designed by architect Albert Kahn and built in 1928 this Art Deco office building is one of Detroit's architectural gems. Today, there are several restaurants, cafés and shops on the building's first floor. If you get a chance to pay a visit, to the place, be sure to look up at the ornate ceiling. To make the most of your time here in Detroit, you can be sure it is best done with a bus charter or party bus service.
But if you prefer a bit of a livelier character to your attractions, then get bus Rental Detroit to drop you off Greektown where there’s a bundle of casinos, bars and restaurants, which get especially crowded right after Red Wings and Lions games. So stay safe, bet on black and enjoy your trip.

Quaint, Attractive Neighborhoods in Detroit Jaw-droppingly Beautiful

Thanks to the many years of developments and the district’s quick thinking and forward outlook about revitalizing a town better known as for its manufacturing and car industry, Detroit is a completely different city today. And because of the influx of residents, we are currently seeing more beautiful neighborhoods here in recent years and they all vary by quite a bit which gives our bus rental Detroit customers every reason to come by for a visit every now and again.
If strolling is not your thing, we strongly recommend taking a bus ride through New Center area and then have a quick look-around in Midtown and of course, there is no doubt about stopping by Downtown for people-watching, shopping and endless entertainment as the day comes to a close.
The New Center area is one of bus rental Detroit customers’ favorite places because the buildings are amazing, there are lots of different historical buildings to learn up about and in 2007, CNN Money Magazine editor named Downtown Detroit as a top neighborhood to retire to. This says a whole lot about how the authorities have turned things around in Detroit.
If you are nature lover, you should never miss the chance to take the bus that you have rented from Bus Rental Detroit to Lafayette Park, one of the country’s most gorgeous parks. The park is a part of the Ludwig Mies van der Rohe district and is surrounded by beautiful green spaces and creatively designed low-rise residential buildings. Completely awe-inspiring sight and will leave you with wonderful memories about your visit here in Detroit.
Remember that Bus Rental Detroit is ready to bring you the best charter bus, coach bus, party bus, or mini bus for a group vacation with your family and friends. Give us a call for details and we look forward to hearing from and serving you in the near future.
